What We Do

Code Recover is a library of concise, evidence-based articles, organized into two tracks:

  • For ED Clinicians: Includes the Code Recover Protocol, severity assessment, MOUD initiation and dosing, withdrawal management, overdose care, perinatal SUD, how to work effectively with a peer specialist on the care team, and more.

  • For Peer Navigators: Includes the peer's role in ED-based recovery support, motivational interviewing, HIPAA and hospital safety, warm handoffs and follow-up, de-escalation, protecting your own recovery, and more.

The articles are paired with printable quick-reference guides, designed to live in a binder or on the wall of an ED, so the guidance is there in the moment it's needed.

Alongside the articles, Code Recover includes:

  • A video library featuring our Clinician and Peer Advisory Council members — practitioners with direct, hands-on experience building and running ED-based peer programs — walking through the material in their own words.

  • A library of nearly 100 vetted external resources — tools, guidelines, and trainings connected to the articles through a tagging system, so a clinician or peer can go straight to every related resource without hunting for it.

  • Connect, a searchable directory where peers and clinicians can create a profile and find others interested in advancing this work in their local areas.
